Louisiana teen faces drug charges following search

At this time of year, teenagers around the country have turned their focus onto organizing school supplies and understanding syllabuses. However, one teenager in Louisiana is likely more concerned about his criminal defense than his test dates. He was recently arrested and faces multiple drug charges following a search of his home.

The search was conducted by the St. Tammany Parish Narcotics Task Force. Detectives claim that they had been investigating the teenager after receiving several complaints about the teen related to suspected drug sale and use. Officials reportedly conducted a search of the 18-year-old’s home the day before students were expected to return to school.

Police claim that they discovered a variety of drugs, including marijuana and marijuana wax, morphine, Clonazepam, Tramadol, Xanax, Ecstasy and cocaine. Additionally, reports claim that officials also discovered a gun and gun paraphernalia. The teenager faces several charges as result of the search. It is unclear where police suspected the teenager obtained the drugs.

The teenager arrested as a result of this raid now faces much more serious concerns than other students his age. Unfortunately, he may be unsure about how to respond to the drug charges — among others — against him. As a result, the Louisiana teen may choose to seek guidance from an experienced criminal defense attorney who can ensure that he is fully informed about all of his options, giving him confidence about the decisions he must make in the coming weeks. While some people who have found themselves in a similar predicament chose to fight the charges in court, others chose to accept a plea deal in exchange for reduced charges and/or a less severe sentence.
