One man in Louisiana was recently sentenced for committing crimes involving child pornography. The man admitted to possessing, as well as distributing, pornography involving minors. The man who committed the sex crimes will spend 10 years in prison.

Authorities started to investigate the man, age 20, back in February of 2016. At that time, a parish sheriff’s office had received a report that the man had discussed raping a girl who was 4 years old. These comments were made in a forum online.

Police then searched the man’s home in March. There, they discovered a computer, as well as two cellphones. They also said they uncovered six marijuana plants that were in pots and also in a cardboard box. In addition, a bag of marijuana weighing more than 5 grams was discovered, along with images of men raping both infants and girls under age 13. As part of this sentence, the man must remain on the sex offender registry for a total of 25 years, starting on the day he leaves prison.

The penalties for convictions for sex crimes are harsh in the state of Louisiana, with a person’s freedom, reputation and future being at stake. However, the criminal defense in a case involving a sex crime will examine all of the government’s evidence and may be able to secure witnesses who could support the accused person’s defense or question the prosecution’s witnesses’ credibility. The criminal defense can also work with specialists in DNA to analyze the evidence that the prosecution plans to present, if necessary. Defense counsel will strive for the most personally favorable outcome for the accused, considering the circumstances surrounding the case.
