5 men accused of child pornography Internet crimes,

On Behalf of Sanchez Burke, LLC

Few crimes are more widely reviled than child pornography. The exploitation and endangerment of children is a serious social issue, and it is one that deserves the full attention of law enforcement and the courts. That said, it is important to note that not everyone who is accused of Internet crimes and child pornography is ultimately found guilty. Such may be the case for one or more of the five Louisiana men who were recently arrested on charges related to child pornography.

The arrests do not seem to be the result of a central sting operation. Little information was provided as to how authorities came to suspect these men. One of the arrests allegedly took place after a man was the subject of an investigation in which photographs considered to be child pornography were obtained from the man’s computer. One of the other men was arrested after investigators received a tip.

The five men range in age from 18 to 41. As of the time of this report, they all remain jailed. Should they be convicted on the charges against them, they face as many as 20 years in prison for each count.

As each of these Louisiana men approaches his court date, a range of decisions will need to be made as to how to respond to the serious child pornography Internet crimes against them. Determining how to move forward relies on a number of factors. Each man’s defense attorney will make a careful review of the evidence held by the prosecution before a course of action is chosen.
